Who we are
FerTechInform (https://FerTechInform.org) has been developed, and is maintained and administered by the International Fertiliser Society, a not-for-profit learned society that is a forum for the dissemination and discussion of technical information on all aspects of fertiliser production and crop nutrition. We can be contacted via the Fertiliser Society website.
General overview
Visitors to FerTechInform.org can choose to simply view content, or to interact and take part in the discussions in the Fertiliser Forum. For simply viewing the site we do not collect any personally identifiable information. However, for visitors who join the forum requires us to gather personally identifying information.
Gathering of personally-identifying information
Certain visitors to FerTechInform.org choose to interact in ways that require FerTechInform.org to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that FerTechInform.org gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who use our forums to provide a username and email address.
In each case, FerTechInform.org collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with FerTechInform.org. FerTechInform.org does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
All of the information that is collected on FerTechInform.org will be handled in accordance with GDPR legislation.
Protection of certain personally-identifying information
FerTechInform.org discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of project administrators, employees, contractors, and affiliated organisations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on FerTechInform.org’s behalf or to provide services available through FerTechInform.org, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organisations may be located outside of your home country; by using FerTechInform.org, you consent to the transfer of such information to them.
FerTechInform.org will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to project administrators, employees, contractors, and affiliated organisations, as described above, FerTechInform.org discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only when required to do so by law, if you give permission to have your information shared, or when FerTechInform.org believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of FerTechInform.org, third parties, or the public at large.
If you are a registered user of a FerTechInform.org website and have supplied your email address, FerTechInform.org may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with FerTechInform.org and our products. We primarily use the Fertiliser Forum communicate this type of information, so we expect to keep this type of email to a minimum.
If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. FerTechInform.org takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorised access, use, alteration, or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
Use of personal information
We will not use the information you provide when you register for an account in any other way.
We will not sell or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.
We may like to send you email marketing communication which may be of interest to you from time to time.
You have a right at any time to stop us from contacting you for marketing purposes. If you no longer wish to be contacted for marketing purposes, please click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.
Legal grounds for processing personal information
We rely on one or more of the following processing conditions:
- our legitimate interests in the effective delivery of information and services to you;
- explicit consent that you have given;
- legal obligations.
Comments
If visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
We may use cookies on the site for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again, or to prevent you seeing popups multiple times. These cookies may last for up to one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish content in the Forum, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the ID of the topic you just edited.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
